Counselling
If you need to talk to someone
Sometimes it helps to share your feelings with someone who knows from personal experience how distressing the loss of a pet can be and who will listen with compassion and without judgement.
The Pet Bereavement Support Service, co-ordinated by The Blue Cross, Britain’s pet charity, and the Society for Companion Animal Studies, runs a bereavement support helpline and email service for bereaved pet owners.
To make contact, call the freephone number 0800 096 6606, alternatively you can use their email support service by emailing pbssmail@bluecross.org.uk.
Other support available can be obtained from Cruse Bereavement Care who enable anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. They can be contacted on 0844 477 9400 or emailing helpline@cruse.org.uk.
Alternatively Samaritans provide confidential non-judgemental emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair. They can be contacted on 08457 90 90 90 or emailing jo@samaritans.org.
