Greffy was named after the metal superconducting grapheme. She was my better half and words were seldom necessary.
She spoke some sign language (.thank you – eyes blink; no – head shake ; thus one – determined upward into ation miaou)
Her beautiful tortoishell coat and capacity for evolution and change made me compare her with a superconductor.
She left us three days ago and the void in my life and heart is unmeasurable.
Almost feral mistrusting abandoned I adopted her in France brought her to the UK nearly 12 years ago.
We travelled together to New Zealand came back and our vet Laura alongside us looked after us for 14 years that seem 14 seconds.
I don’t know where the time has gine but it feels like slow centuries of silence now she is not here.
The silence is deafening the emptiness a chasm.
I feel like I have lost half of my soul and my lifelong companion.
I carried her on my back on my push bike 26 km return trip to the vet on spring solstice two days ago.
It was like a tribute to her for the many trips in a carrier she did not like doing. We pedalled slowly to reminisce her life.
I felt her weight on my back on this last trip like I felt the weight on my back during the many nights she snuggled against me like an Eskimo when I had nightmares we helped one another without asking.
I am grateful my vet suggested you guys so.that her final journey be respectful and honourable as the unique wonderful cat she has been for 14 years.
